Turkish Minister of Transport: Announces the start of international flights to 40 countries
After impressing everyone with the ability of its medical staff to control the pandemic and the efficacy of the measures it has taken to curb the spread of Covid-19, here is Turkey ahead of its counterparts and initiates the resumption of flights after a suspension of more than two months in the framework of preventive measures taken to reduce the outbreak of the Corona pandemic that shook the whole world.
The Ministry of Communications and Infrastructure announced by its Minister, Adel Kara Ismailoglu, in a statement he made to the Turkish press that the return of air navigation and the resumption of international flights will be officially launched from June 10.
The Turkish authorities have programmed foreign international flights that have been suspended since last March 28 towards 40 countries around the world from the second week of June 2020.
After its resumption in Turkey, the first international flights will start towards the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Bulgaria and Greece.
According to the first man in the transportation sector, Adel Kara Ismailoglu, the Arab states will have a share of the first foreign trips, and it is related to two countries from the Arab Gulf region, namely Qatar and Bahrain.
The Ministry of Communications and Infrastructure confirmed that the issue of resuming foreign trips came after many countries around the world were able to control the outbreak of the new Coronavirus, the case of Turkey, which recorded an impressive decline in the number of infections in exchange for a large increase in recovery cases and a marked decrease in the complicated cases that requires the transfer of patients to intensive care.
This major medical success achieved by Turkey contributed to reassuring the authorities and public alike in order to gradually resume normal life since the light of June and return to the atmosphere before the Corona.
Earlier, Turkish Airlines had announced the resumption of direct international flights to 6 European countries as of June 18.
The Turkish Airlines statement said that it will re-organize international flights about 16 European cities, after suspending all civil aviation flights that were programmed towards 127 countries around the world since last March 28, due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
The statement stressed at the time that the decision to return flights to and from 6 European countries came in order to meet the repeated demands and aspirations of travelers thanks to the extraordinary phase that the world witnessed its climax for almost 3 months.
The Turkish Airlines statement said that the flights will be organized around 16 cities in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Sweden and Denmark.
Regarding the Turkish cities from which flights will be launched, the statement indicated that the concerned states are the capital, Ankara, Antalya, Gaziantep, Adana, Diyarbakir, Ordu, Samsun, Alazig, Hatay, Kayseri, Trabzon, Izmir, Bodrum and Konya.
Before the decision to resume international flights, Turkey had restored internal air traffic on May 28 as a fruit of its success in controlling the outbreak of the coronavirus.
Regarding the fears of the spread of the Coronavirus on board flights, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure had assured all those wishing to travel internally or abroad that the airlines had taken all preventive measures to prevent the outbreak of the new pandemic during the scheduled flights.
The first domestic flights were organized in Turkey from Istanbul Airport to the Esenboga Airport in the capital, Ankara, in the presence of Kara Ismailoglu, Minister of Communications and Infrastructure, who shared the atmosphere of the first flight in the post-pandemic era.
