And the most important step taken by the Turkish state in this direction was to raise the value of Turkish exports in all products to achieve record numbers and correspondingly lower the value of imports from previous years.

Exports rose 2.04 percent year on year, and hit a high record in 2019, at $ 180.468 billion.

Last year, the trade deficit decreased by 44.9 percent to $ 29.926 billion, compared to $ 54.323 billion in 2018.

Ismail Gulle, head of the Turkish Exporters Council, told the Anatolia news agency that exports are expected to increase by 5 percent during January this year compared to the same month last year.

The Turkish Ministry of Trade also aims to achieve revenues of $ 190 billion from the value of exports this year. He also pointed to the increase in the share of high-tech products in Turkish exports.

Dried apricot exports accounted for only 38.1 percent, and pistachio exports accounted for 36.8 percent of the volume of exports.

It is reported that the Turkish city of Malatya alone generated revenues of 253 million and 500 thousand dollars from the exports of dried apricots during the past year.

The state exported 99,666 tons of dried apricots to 110 countries around the world in 2019.

The markets of the European Union countries, and the markets of Turkey's neighbors were among the most imported from dried fruits.

The revenues of Turkey from exports of hazelnuts as well amounted last year to two billion and 28 million and 727 thousand dollars, with an increase of 14.5 percent compared to exports in 2018.

According to the data of the Nuts Exporters Association and its derivatives in the Black Sea region in Turkey, the country exported, during the past year, 319 thousand and 772 tons of nuts to 121 countries.

In this context, the Union President said that Turkey exported 319,772 tons of hazelnuts during the past year, noting that this number is a new record in terms of quantity in the country's history.

He also said that in 2018 Turkey exported 279,000 250 tons of hazelnuts, worth 1 billion, 635 million and 235 thousand dollars.

He pointed out that Italy topped the list of countries importing hazelnuts from Turkey in 2019, surpassing Germany, which had topped the list for the past nine years.

And explained that Turkey exported to Italy last year, 83 thousand and 898 tons, valued at 547 million and 588 thousand dollars, followed by Germany with 73 thousand and 476 tons, with a value of 434 million and 806 thousand dollars, then France with 22 thousand 719 tons, valued at 147 million and 75 thousand dollars.

The union president also pointed out that Turkey's exports of hazelnuts to China increased continuously, especially in 2019, reaching 11,180 tons, with a value of 87 million, $ 179,000, compared to 6,825 tons, with a value of 45 million and 725 dollars in 2018.

With these figures, China's ranking in the list of 121 countries importing hazelnuts from Turkey has risen to 6, instead of 12.

 

Turkish exports of machinery:

The value of Turkey's exports in the field of machinery in 2019 reached nearly $ 20 billion, while the country's imports decreased by 17.6 percent.

This came according to a statement of the Federation of Machinery Exporters in Turkey, which included figures and statistics on the country's exports and imports of machinery.

According to this, the value of Turkey's exports of machinery, amounted to 17.9 billion dollars during the past year, achieving a growth rate of 4.2 percent, compared to 2018.

And this number rose to 19 billion dollars, when adding free zone exports of machinery to it, which constitutes 10.5 percent of the total Turkish exports, which amounted to 180.5 billion dollars last year.

Also, Turkey's exports of machinery decreased by 17.6 percent during the current year, so that the foreign trade deficit in the machinery sector shrunk by half during the past year, after reaching in 2018, 10 billion dollars.

 

Turkish exports in the field of clothing

The Turkish clothing market is one of the most famous clothing markets in the world, as there are many of the most important fashion houses and Turkey exports clothing and textiles to several countries every year.

The revenues of Turkish exports of ready-made clothes and textiles in 2019 amounted to 17 billion and 701 million USD.

According to a joint statement issued by the Ministry of Trade and the Council of Turkish Exporters, most of the exports of the apparel and textile sector went to the European Union and the Middle East.

The apparel and textiles sector achieved an increase of 0.4 percent last year compared to 2018, to occupy 9.8 percent of the total exports.

The European Union countries were the main destination for exports of the sector during 2019, with value of 12 billion and 230 million dollars.

The Middle East countries came in second place with two billion and 22 million dollars, and the Commonwealth of Independent States came in third place with $ 953 million.

 

 

In this context, we do not forget to mention the Turkish real estate market, which, despite being not included in the field of Turkish exports, has contributed significantly to the support of the Turkish economy and the Turkish lira, despite the continuous decline that it suffered in the past year, which was the result of external factors and internal conditions of the country.
